NaturCert joins WTM London 2009

NaturCert's participation at WTM London 2009 marked with great success expanding further the international presence.
NaturCert joined for the third time the World Travel Market held this year in ExCel London between 9 - 12 November 2009. Staged annually in London, World Travel Market is a vibrant must attend four day business to business event presenting a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors to UK and International travel professionals. It is a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business under one roof. By attending World Travel Market, participants efficiently, effectively and productively gain immediate competitive advantage for their business and stay abreast with the latest developments in the travel industry. The World Travel Market attracts more than 2,500 international travel trade, business-to-business and consumer journalists - all looking to learn and write about the latest trends, travel hot spots, industry developments.
This year's WTM was celebrating 30 years and the WTM 2008 had a record breaking 49,963 travel industry professionals attending.
Akis Laopodis, Managing Partner of NaturCert said: ''We had the opportunity to follow up the ongoing talks with our primary and secondary partners across different countries as we have experienced great interest for NaturCert Certification from hospitality & travel chains and groups based in the region of our primary interest.'' Mr. Laopodis also said that ''with the upcoming announcement of our Representation in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia following ITB Asia's announcements, we will be able to fully expand our market presence in the Asian region as as well as Europe and Latin America with sustainable growth of our activities for addressing the demand for our programs.''
NaturCert Certification is today in fully compliance with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC), incorporated by the Tourism Sustainability Council (TSC) and developed by key UN agencies as well as over 30 international organizations and is the key point of reference for sustainable tourism certification and the only one globally accepted.
NaturCert also participated at the Fringe Responsible Tourism Networking event on 9 November 2009. The objective or the event was to share experiences and strengthen contacts and business opportunities between environmentally and socially responsible travel operators and companies active in the field of sustainable tourism in various regions.
The event was a continuation of the Responsible Tourism Networking event supported by Messe Berlin during ITB Asia in October 2009. The responsible tourism event during WTM London 2009 was co-organised by The Blue Yonder, TravelToCare and Wild Asia.
The Tourism Sustainability Council (TSC) is a global membership council that will offer from 2010 a common understanding of sustainable tourism and the adoption of universal sustainable tourism principles and criteria. The TSC will bring together tourism businesses presently operating to various degrees of sustainability performance, governments, UN bodies, research and academic institutions, social and environmental NGOs, certification programs, and others from distinct regions of the world.
