The World Climate Community is the idea of Mr. Klaus Bondam, Technical and Environmental Mayor of the City of Copenhagen. It has been developed together with Danish NGOs and organisations, private sponsors and other contributors.
In December 7th.-18th. Copenhagen will be the host city of the UNFCCC climate conference, COP15. Hopefully, their efforts will give us all a new, ambitious and strong climate agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol from 1997. Last year’s COP14 in Poznan, Poland and COP13 in Bali in 2006 laid out the cornerstones for the Roadmap to Copenhagen.
At this year’s conference NGOs, grassroots and politicians will come together to fight climate change and debate issues such as; sustainable environment, reduction of CO2 emissions, legislation for pollution, protection of the rain forest, the ice caps, mitigation of the consequences of rising sea levels, extreme weather, deforestation, global warming and the green house effect!
The World Climate Community is open for any organisation or private individual from the World Wide Foundation (WFF), Greenpeace, ICLEI, UNEP, the UN and to the European Commission, Microsoft or citizens of New Delhi. The UN Climate Talks are extremely important and this online community is for all those concerned with sustainability in urban development as well as environmental policy towards agriculture and dealing responsibly with 3rd world countries’ industrialisation.
